Surrey Youth Games 2017

Chertsey are again involved in the Surrey Youth Games for Runnymede Borough. Boys and girls in years 5 & 6 are eligible for free coaching lasting 9 weeks, building up to the competition on Saturday 17th June at Surrey Sports Park, Guildford. This is a great opportunity to try a new sport for free and participate in the games which is a great event! Training is on Thursday nights 6-7.15pm at Salesians School in Chertsey, beginning Thursday 20th April to Thursday 15th June. Further details are on the Runnymede website.

It was a scorcher and not at all hockey weather but all the children did incredibly well. The morning started off with our 2 girls teams battling it out, both teams played well in the short 10 minute matches and scored goals and we were thrilled that our B team came joint 7th and our A team came in SILVER place! The B team consisted mainly of new players whereas our A team was more established so both very good results!

The Boys had their go in the afternoon and really did struggle in the heat, but came 3rd in their pool and finished 5th over all which was brilliant - bring on next year for this bunch of year 5 boys!!

Of course the goals win matches but it is a team sport, so special mention to the goalies who must have been roasting: Amber, Veronica, Mark & Oliver.

Thank you to the parents for supporting and supplying all the water! If anyone has any photos they would like to share I would love to have them.
